Infant Jesus Pastoral Council

The essential mission of every parish is evangelization, that is, proclaiming and witnessing to the Good News of the Gospel.  In addition, each parish has a unique mission.  For Infant Jesus, that mission statement is the following:

We the people of Infant Jesus Parish are a Roman Catholic Community called to be one with God and one another.
As a parish family we are enriched by diversity.  While recognizing the value of many forms of ministries and spirituality, our essential source and sign of unity is the Eucharist.
We choose to receive grace by living our lives through Christ’s call to share our Time, Talent and Treasure in service to God and His people.

The Pastoral Council has a unique role representing the parish as a whole in an advisory role to the pastor.
Through ongoing long range pastoral planning, the Pastoral Council maintains the integrity of the parish mission and the objectives and goals related to it.

The Council serves as a forum of consultation for the pastor and members, primarily by engaging them in ongoing dialogue about the needs, feelings, hopes and reactions of parishioners.  The purpose of this interaction is to foster the process of pastoral planning and decisions, in the light of the parish mission and vision.  The council is not involved with the administration or operation of parish activities.

All council members are required to be registered members of the Infant Jesus parish and at least 18 years of age.  The following positive qualities are expected of council members:

•    regularly attending mass
•    a person of faith and prayer
•    some parish ministry background
•    serve people of different backgrounds and ages
•    ability to listen, understand, cooperate and commit.

In addition to Fr. Patrick Riegger and Deacon Bob Kruse, the following parishioners are currently members of the Infant Jesus Pastoral Council:

  • Thomas Bell
  • Edward Byrne
  • Carol Donegan
  • George Fabian
  • James Fenton
  • Cathy Kleitsch
  • Joan McCool
  • Lucy Paplin
  • John Perlman
  • Anne Rust
  • Michael Valenze

The council normally meets once a month during the months of September through June and as requested by the pastor.

When Infant Jesus Hospitality Sunday is held, the Pastoral Council is one of the host ministries.  Several members of the council attend the event to provide parishioners an opportunity to interact and communicate with the council members about items of concern within the parish.  Information can also be forwarded to the council at This email address is being protected from spambots.
