R.C.I.A. is a Church Program for those who have not received the sacraments of Christian Initiation in the course of their childhood It allows them to explore and learn about our Christian faith, and come to a relationship of love with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Typically, they will receive their sacraments during the Easter Vigil Mass of their parish.
The sacraments of Christian initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist - lay the foundations of every Christian life. "The sharing in the divine nature given to men through the grace of Christ bears a certain likeness to the origin, development, and nourishing of natural life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity." (CCC 1212)
If you are interested in becoming a fully initiated member of the Catholic Church please contact the rectory. We will be happy to assist you and answer any questions that you may have.
At Infant Jesus, the RCIA program meets every Sunday morning from about late September to just after Easter. The weekly meetings include classes, discussions and the attendance of the Sunday Mass. During this time the RCIA "catechumens" and "candidates" will go through a process, or stages that span the RCIA year.
